T. Austin- Sparks

Fellowship between Watchman Nee and
T. Austin-Sparks

In June 1933, Watchman Nee went to the Christian Fellowship Center on Honor Oak Road in southeast London, England. Watchman Nee and T. Austin-Sparks had some fellowship and gave some messages together.

In 1938, Brother Nee went again to London to fellowship with Brother Sparks. The result of their fellowship was as follows:

  • In life, they both received spiritual help.

  • Regarding the church, Brother Nee noticed some differences in Brother Sparks’ point of view. Brother Sparks emphasized the line of Christ’s mystical Body. He thought that the Holy Spirit can freely give His Body different forms of expression, and each of these forms testified of His heavenly headship.

In his book, Our Ministry, T. Austin-Sparks said:
To realize what is the church, the churches, the order of the church, and the word of the church, we have to see things from God’s general and inclusive point of view. This point of view is Christ. If we can realize how Christ is in all His members and all His ways, then we can realize what is the church. Everything is in Christ.
Brother Nee and Brother Sparks had no disagreement about the new wine, but Brother Nee was additionally concerned about the wineskin.
